Design Your Playbook in 4 Easy Steps

How do I define my Stages/Lanes?

The Plays inside a Playbook are organized into Stages (sequential) or Lanes (parrallel) of Execution. It  depends on what type of Playbook you are capturing as to the definition of your Playbook. For example we have customers that are building their GTM Playbooks; therefore, their Playbook have more of a time ("Stages") view of the maturity of their markets. A common set of stages for this Playbook would be: Discovery (learning about a market), Validation (winning the first customers and learning), Acceleration (boots on the ground and land-grab moment) and Scale (becoming the leader of the market). An example of a Playbook organized by Lanes, is when you have multiple parallel processes when launching a new product: A Major Release, Large feature, Small Feature and Bug/Fixes.

How do I add Teammates?

Very easily. Just type their email and send an invitation by email (see image below). Once they log in they will set up their account and start helping you build and execute your Playbook.

How do I add Functions?

As you design your Playbook you also have to add which functions are involved with its execution. For example on a Marketing Playbook you could find the following functions involved: Positioning, Brand, Demand Gen, Analyst Relationships, Content, Events, etc. For a GTM Playbook you might need: Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Growth and Finance. Quickly go ahead and pick a icon for your function and add it with a simple click.

How do I add Segments?

You will need to define where your will apply your execution efforts, resources and focus to achieve the results. Examples of Segments are: Countries, Industries, Partners, Products, Use-Cases, etc. Very easily type the name of the segment, pick an image and add the segment to be visualized in the Portfolio.

How do the 4 tabs or views of the Playbook relate to each other?

The 4 tabs in your playbook - Playboard, Portfolio, Execution and Operations are inter-linked. By executing them accordingly, it accelerate the execution velocity of your team. The future results will not be created passively –  Playbook is the way to coach your team, not playing for them!  The Playbook empowers your team to understand what they need to do, how they need to do it, where to do it and track the results of it.
